What We Do
The Emergency Medical Services Institute, established in 1994, offers programs and training that support the women and men who work as Emergency Medical Services volunteers and staff in the northwest corner of CT and neighboring towns in NY State. Its mission is to enhance the quality of emergency care by promoting, facilitating and providing training opportunities to support all EMS squads in the Sharon Hospital catchment area.
Training demands are constant and ever-changing. New volunteer members require training. Seasoned volunteers need updated education and instruction in new procedures and techniques.
The value the EMS Institute offers to the community can be measured by the many ways emergency services have been enhanced through the EMS Institute interventions and contributions to volunteer squads: CPR training, establishment of Heart Safe Communities, support for monthly case reviews, a day-long Symposium, opportunities to networking between the squads, and many more.
